Torah Nation is the second book in Rav Miller’s ZT”L series on Jewish History. The author’s intention is to show the reader how an important part of our history is often overlooked, that of our great Torah personalities and the ways in which our sages acted when confronted by the numerous enemies of our people. Its masterful design and great attention in the detailing of the happenings recognize that.

The description of the story of Chanukah is so in-depth that the reader feels as though he is a part of history. It is as if the author was present and an insider of the inner workings of the story. Names of people, their associates, what their real intents were and how the “writers of history” attempted to cover-up what really was transpiring are all brought to light.

The book takes you from the exile of Bavel through the destruction of the second sanctuary and into the Common Era. No detail of consequence is left out or overlooked. When one reads the details of what Titus did to our brothers and sisters, while utterly destroying Jerusalem, “The number of captives was 97,000. The number of those perished or killed during the siege was a million and one hundred thousand” (Paragraph 712), he will have a new outlook when the fast of Av approaches.

This book is intense and requires that the reader have a desire to understand what our great past was like and the vision to understand the potential that we have as a people when we follow on the path of truth and faithfulness.

Behold A People is the first book in Rav Millers history series. As is true of all the author’s works, he has painstakingly put together an extraordinarily detailed Torah history of our people beginning with Adam and continuing through the destruction of the first sanctuary.

The chronology of our forefathers and all the aspects of their lives as written in the Torah are brought out and set forth for public view. The author sets out with steel facts pulling no punches in describing how the word of Hashem was brought forth first through Adam and with precision all the way down the line in an unbroken chain of events that leave no doubt as to the truthfulness of the Torah.

The author goes on at great length to describe the kings of Israel. How did the people come to have kings over them? How did one become king? What were their accomplishments? What were their failures? What were the jobs of the prophets? It is a succinct record yet manages to include all of the details. This book is filled with the history of a great era for our people, of what was and what could have been and how it all unfolded.
